As the end of Season of Dawn quickly approaches, fans continue todonate fractaline to the Empyrean Foundationin the hopes of unlocking the highly speculated mode, Trials of Osiris. Bungie has yet to confirm much of anything about the upcomingDestiny 2season, which has forced dataminers to do a lot of speculating. However, it seems that Bungie is preparing to open up a bit about the next season based on the little surprise players have found inside of the game.

After logging intoDestiny 2for the first time following the reset, a new CG cutscene automatically triggers, showing Osiris finally off of Mercury. However, he appears to be on a mission and armed with a weapon as he storms into Rasputin’s vault on Mars. It appears that the outcast Warlock has some questions for the Warmind Rasputin and its allegiance.

As he approaches Rasputin, Osiris appears ready to end the Warmind as he accuses it of being a betrayer, a thug, and a murderer. While Osiris never expands upon what he knows, it appears that Rasputin may not be the force for good that most people in the Tower view it as. Osiris then goes on to hint that he saw something significant inside of the Infinite Forest that forced him to end his exile and reach out to the Vanguard and ultimately the player’s Guardian. It’s not explicitly stated if Rasputin has a hand in the future events or if Osiris is merely there to confirm that the Warmind really is on the side of light.

While many assume that the Season of the Worthy will be centered on PvPthanks to the return of Trials of Osiris, this cutscene may hint that PvE players will have some content to sink their teeth into as well. In addition to finally providing a link between bothDestiny 2DLC expansions,WarmindandCurse of Osiris, this could be a signal that many of the plot threads that have been left dangling over the years may finally be coming together in some capacity.

The trailer is reminiscent of the surprise cutscene Bungie revealed last year, which ultimately confirmed the resurrection of Prince Uldren as a Guardian. While many players were hoping to see a continuation of that story line following the surprise ending of theForsakenexpansion, nothing much has come about it outside of a couple of Eververse items whichdetail Uldren’s struggle with his memory lossand the hostility directed towards him from others. While his fate remains a mystery for now, some fans are hoping to see Uldren get to the Tower where the recently revived Saint-14 will take him under his wing as another Guardian who was given a second chance.

Destiny 2is available on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Stadia.
